A Day Of Rest

6:35 - wake up to slamming doors and Isaac yelling, "Mommy! I need my bum bum wiped!" (that's not counting my two previous times out of bed to find Isaac's blue blankie that fell between the bed and the wall and to refill his water bottle at 2:05am and 3:40am respectively)
6:40 - braise and prepare the roast for the slow-cooker, put the breakfast rolls that didn't rise overnight into the warm oven.
6:55 - back upstairs to get Brigham who is calling for me from his crib and to entertain the boys in the toy room as quietly as possible as not to wake up Nate or his brother Drew (who was visiting for the weekend).
7:30 - downstairs for breakfast. Once all the boys are situated at the table with bowls, spoons, plates, drinks, and food - I throw a load of laundry in the dryer that I washed the night before.
7:40 - morning scripture study with the kids.
8:00 - rolls are ready to bake. Turn on television for the Tabernacle Choir broadcast. Sit and enjoy one song, "Redeemer of Israel", before the children are finished with breakfast.
8:10 - Listen to the rest of the broadcast while cleaning up the children and breakfast.
8:20 - Nate's awake and showering. Rolls are done.
8:30 - Missionaries knock at the door ready for their weekly Sunday meeting with Nate. I sweep the last few crumbs from under the table just as they sit down. Clayton and Isaac are sent up to the toy room to play "quietly". Brigham entertains himself in my bathroom while I get ready for church.
9:00 - Drew's awake. Breakfast rolls for everyone. Mmmmmmm. . .
9:15 - Clean-up breakfast roll mess. Load and start the dishwasher. Pull clothes out of dryer. Hang shirts and fold a few clothes. Nate leaves for Ward Council meeting.
9:40 - Turn on some of my favorite Sunday music. Dress the kids for church. re-apply ointment to Isaac's rash. Clip Clayton's fingernails. Change Brigham's diaper. Look for Isaac's shoes.
10:00 - Put Brigham down for mini-nap before Church. Find Isaac's shoes - still wet from running through the duck pond. Luckily the dryer is free.
10:10 - Pack the church bag with books, activities, snacks, diapers, wet wipes, and a few toys. Gather some last minute picture cards for "music time" in Primary. Relax on the couch to read the Visiting Teaching Message in the Ensign while Issac climbs and jumps in and out of my legs until finally elbows me in the stomach.
10:40 - Nate comes home. I go upstairs to wake-up Brigham. Everyone out to the car. Don't forget Brigham's shoes and his "No Milk Products" tag that he wears to Nursery.
11:00 - Church. (a story for another day)
2:00 - Church is over. Uncle Drew is gone (Nate took him to the airport right after Sacrament Meeting).
2:15 - We head home for a snack of graham crackers, apples, and milk and a mini-nap #2 for Brigham.
2:25 - Clean-up snack mess and put Brigham down.
2:35 - Unload dishwasher. Nate takes a nap. Kids ride bikes around the house crashing full on into the open dishwasher door.
2:40 - Make brownies for Family Night with Clayton and Isaac. Licking bowls and spoons and taking turns stirring.
2:55 - Brownies into the oven just as Brigham wakes up.
3:00 - Clayton and Isaac head upstairs with me to get Briggs. We play, throw pillows, and read books until oops. . .Nate wakes up.
3:20 - Clayton and Isaac race downstairs to see Daddy.
3:40 - Brownies done. Pull out to cool. Kids listen to a book on cd and dump out all the toys in the living room. Brigham gets stuck in wicker chest.
3:55 - I leave for Ward Choir practice. Nate cleans up toy mess and does Family Night with the kids - lesson: taking (and touching) only one piece of sacrament bread.
5:05 - Home again just in time for Family Night treat. Mmmmmmm brownies. And dinner of roast beef, crackers, string cheese, carrots, grapes, and milk for the kids.
5:25 - Nate and Clayton leave for a baptism in the ward.
5:35 - Upstairs with Isaac and Brigham for bath, books, and bed.
6:00 - Brigham in bed.
6:30 - Isaac in bed.
6:40 - Nate and Clayton are home. I prepare toasted French Dip sandwiches and carrots while Nate reads the Home Teaching message. Clayton joins us for dinner and eats just a roll.
7:00 - Clayton and I head upstairs for books and bed.
7:30 - Clayton in bed.
7:35 - Nate leaves to go Home Teaching. I clean kitchen, load and start dishwasher, sweep and mop the floor, wipe the table and counters, fold laundry, check my email, watch part of "Swan Lake" performed by the Chinese Ballet Company, and write this blog post.
9:58 - I think I'll read for a while until Nate is done cleaning out his clothes closet. And then, finally we can both REST.
